Coach Jolyon and I are two very very proud coaches. Jolyon has been passionate and dedicated to the Centennial COLTS since 2016 and has been so invested in the team and each and every athlete. This year, Jolyon has reached many of his goals thanks to his relentless work and dedication and due to our tremendously talented team. To the team, thank you all for being so special to us, so respectful, so kind to each other and also for giving Jolyon chocolates. You have created a COLTS family and have made us both so proud as we see you working so hard and you will always keep making him proud. We love watching you play your hearts out, pushing yourself and enjoying the game.
The COLTS did amazingly at the first tournament of the year, each of them all placing and winning prizes but most importantly supporting each other and playing their best! Jolyon had on the biggest smile I've ever seen for the whole weekend, the team couldn't help but point it out and smile with him. Our home tournament was a huge success as the team pulled together during that busy time hosting and playing hard, putting another big smile on Jolyon's face which prepared us for Regionals. Jolyon was beyond ecstatic a couple weeks ago, bringing all 5 of our teams to Provincials and winning the men's team banner as well as 4 teams medaling! It was another prouder weekend and his smile somehow grew even bigger. We will work hard next week at Nationals to make you proud and reach your goal of creating history for Centennial Coach Jolyon!
I got the pleasure of being Jolyon's full support as Assistant Coach to the Centennial COLTS this year and we made so memories together, especially as my first time as coach for OCAA. I remember when he asked me with such a big smile to join him. As Head Coach, Jolyon was inspiring as he not only shared badminton knowledge and his love for badminton, but also being there for me and for the team on and off the court. I got to spend a lot of time with him especially this year as we experienced all the emotions of running and coaching the team. I did not know that I signed up for such an experience as I witness his smile somehow continually grow even bigger throughout the year. We would talk about the good and the bad things and the plans for the team as he always gets so excited about everything, like the team members or learning how to use Instagram and Google Photos. He was always so enthusiastic.
Jolyon has been part of my biggest badminton accomplishments starting with winning a silver medal for the first and only time with COBA at the Ontario Winter Games when I only just started playing badminton. He's played competitively at the Ridges with me and we always had fun on court laughing. He would love that I grind on court and never give up. He was so encouraging when I won nationals for Humber even though he is super competitive representing Centennial the time and faced me in mixed doubles my second year. He supported me while I was with BON and him as referee as well as the YCIC event. I didn't realize how much I talked to him and how much I still have to discuss with him... There is too many good memories to talk about.
You will always be remembered as you grew our love of badminton and impacted so many lives. May you rest in peace Jolyon.
